- the problem to be solved by the present invention is to provide an ink composition that does not decompose or discolor from the ink composition even when stored in a high temperature environment that may occur, for example, in a car in summer. .
- the above-mentioned high-potential dye has excellent light fastness and ozone gas fastness of the image, but is easily attacked by nucleophilic species rich in electrons, and has three additives, particularly three hydroxyl groups, contained in the ink composition. It has been newly found that disintegration is promoted by the humectant, and the ink composition fades or discolors when stored for a long period of time.
- the present inventors have promoted the construction of a technology that maintains the light fastness of the image and the fastness of ozone gas and imparts the storage stability, aiming at both the performance of the dye and the storage stability of the ink composition.
- the present inventor investigated the components in the ink composition that promotes the decomposition of the high-potential dye in the ink composition containing the high-potential dye excellent in resistance to light, heat, and active gas in the environment. It has been found that a compound having a hydroxyl group is related to the decomposition of the high potential dye. In particular, when a compound having three or more hydroxyl groups is present in a specific amount or more in the ink composition, the decomposition of the high-potential dye is remarkable, and the high-potential dye is also present when the high-potential dye concentration in the ink composition is small. It was found that the degradation of the dye was significant.
- the present invention is not limited by such estimation.
- the compound having a hydroxyl group in the ink composition is used as a humectant, and the amount added to the ink composition is large. Accordingly, attention is paid to a humectant having a hydroxyl group, particularly a humectant having 3 or more hydroxyl groups, and by adjusting the amount of use, the storage stability of the ink composition is improved.
- the present invention was completed by finding that both light fastness and ozone gas fastness can be achieved.
