Abstract
多孔質の隔壁母材と、その隔壁母材の流入側のみ又は流入側と流出側に設けられた表層と、を有する隔壁を備え、次の(1)~(5)を満たすハニカムフィルタを、DPFとして適用する。 (1)表層のピーク細孔径が隔壁母材の平均細孔径と同等又は小さく、表層の気孔率が隔壁母材の気孔率より大きい。 (2)表層は、ピーク細孔径が0.3μm以上20μm未満、気孔率が60%以上95%未満(測定方法は水銀圧入法)である。 (3)表層の厚さL1が、隔壁の厚さL2の、0.5%以上30%未満である。 (4)表層の濾過面積あたりの質量が、0.01mg/cm2以上6mg/cm2未満である。 (5)隔壁母材は、平均細孔径が10μm以上60μm未満、気孔率が40%以上65%未満である。 このようなDPFによれば、PM捕集開始直後の急激な圧力損失上昇がなく、PM堆積量と圧力損失との関係がヒステリシス特性を持たず、PMが堆積していない初期状態の圧力損失を低く抑えられる。
