본 발명은 금융기관에 의하여 발행된 카드를 사용하여 상업적 거래를 처리하는 방식에 관한 것으로, 특히 이용 가능한 기록된 마이크로칩카드를 사용하는 방식과 같은 것에 관한 것이다.
본 발명은 백화점, 슈퍼마켓 또는 더 작은 소매상점과 같은 소매시설에서 구매거래와 같은 거래들에 전형적으로, 그러나 비독점적으로 사용된다. 카드는 여러가지 상거래를 효과 있게 하기 위하여 널리 사용된다.
가장 보편적으로 사용되는 카드의 형태는 신용카드이고 그것은 서명으로 소지자를 증명하고 어떤 한도액까지 신용으로 구매하는 것을 허용한다.
신용카드방식이 극히 편리하다는 것이 증명되기 하였으나 상이한 장소에서 많은 구입을 하므로서 카드사용자가 여러번 신용한도를 써버릴 수 있으며 후에 계산할 때 갚을 능력을 초과하고 허위거래기록을 작성하므로서 카드 사용자가 실제로 하지도 않은 구입을 부과할 수 있는 약용이 배제되지 않는다.
또 다른 종래의 문제는 신용카드거래판매자가 카드를 발행한 금융기관으로 부터 상환을 받기 위하여 개개의 거래기록을 제출해야 하는 것을 포함하는 연장된 후처리이다.
근래에 예불카드(a prepaid card) 또는 차변카드(debit card)라고 불리는 또 다른 형태의 카드가 사용되게 되었다. 예불카드는 신용카드와 달라서 계정상의 잔고가 카드 속에 기록된다. 상기 카드를 획득하려면 사용자는 최초의 잔고에 상당하는 금액을 지불한다. 그런 다음 매번 거래는 카드와 함께 지불되고 카드 속에 기록된 잔고는 거래액수만큼 감산된다.
예불카드는 일본국에서 일본전신전화공사(NTT)에 일본철도에 의해서 사용되었다.
이들 방식 모두에서 잔고정보는 자기적 방법(magnetic means)에 의하여 카드 속에 기록되었다. 이들 예불카드는 고객에 의한 최고사용의 문제를 제어하였으나 그들은 다른 결점이 있다. 그 한가지의 결점은 그들의 비호환성이다. 즉 전화카드는 단지 공중전화에서만 사용가능하고 철도카드는 단지 철도차표판매기에서만 사용 가능한 것이다.
또 다른 결점은 카드 속의 잔고가 영으로 감소되었을 때 카드의 실용성은 소모되어 버리고 사용자는 새로운 카드를 획득하여야 하는 것이다.
근래의 반도체기술의 발달은 지금 마이크로프로세서 및 기억장치들을 끼워 넣은 마이크로칩 반도체장치를 갖는 훨씬 더 고도로 정교한 카드를 생산할 수 있게 되었다. 그들은 다량의 정보를 저장 기억할 수 있고 그 정보를 처리할 수 있기 때문에 그와 같은 마이크로칩카드(아이씨카드라고도 칭함)는 자기수단(magnetic means)에 의하여 데이터를 기록하는 종래의 카드를 능가하는 많은 잇점을 제공한다.
이 잇점들은 예불카드방식의 사용에 제공될 수 있다. 제안된 한가지 예불마이크로칩카드방식에서 카드의 기억장치(메모리)는 증가 및 감소 양폭이 모두 될 수 있는 잔고를 함유한다. 자기식카드와는 달리 그와 같은 마이크로칩카드는 사용한 다음 버리지 않게 된다.
즉 카드 속에 있는 잔고를 사용하여 소모한 후에 사용자는 자동금전출납단말기에 의하여 은행계정으로 부터 그 속으로 기금을 이체하므로서 카드를 재보충 할 수 있다. 또 카드는 허가되지 않은 사용을 방지하기 위하여 암호를 제공할 수 있다.
신용카드와 같이 그와 같은 예불마이크로칩카드는 여러가지 상이한 상거래시설에서 거래를 위하여 지불될 수 있다. 카드 속에 잔고를 차변 처리할 수 있는 금전등록단말기를 구비한 어떤 시설에서도 사용될 수 있다. 또 신용카드방식에서와 같이 판매자는 거래에 있어서 나중에 후처리를 통하여 상환되어야 한다. 판매자는 카드를 발행한 금융기관에 거래기록을 제출하여야 하며 그 처리절차는 많은 일을 내포하고 부정조작의 기회가 존재한다.
그와 같은 기회는 보존될 종이, 플렉시블디스크(flexible disk) 또는 기타매체상의 거래기록의 허위변조와 판매자의 단말제어기로의 허위입력 모두를 포함한다. 따라서, 본 발명은 상기의 제반 결점이나 문제들을 해결하기 위해 제공되는 것이다.
본 발명의 목적은 거래를 카드에서 카드로의 기금의 이체로 감소시키므로서 예불마이크로칩카드 거래처리 방식에서 불필요한 후처리를 제거하는 것이며 그러므로서 노동력을 절약하고 부정조작의 위험성을 감소시키는 것이다.
상기 목적을 달성하기 위해 본 발명은 잔고가 기록된 고객의 마이크로칩카드와 상통하는 고객의 마이크로칩카드 판독기/기록기와, 고객 마이크로칩카드 판독기/기록기와 전기적으로 결합되고 잔고가 기록된 판매자의 마이크로칩카드와 상통하는 판매자의 마이크로칩카드 판독기/기록기를 포함하는 예불마이크로칩 거래처리방식이다.
상기 거래처리방식에 적용될 때의 카드의 거래처리과정을 설명한다.
거래가 수행될 때 고객은 고객 마이크로칩카드를 고객 마이크로칩카드 판독기/기록기속에 삽입하고 부착될 키패드에 암호를 입력한다. 판매자는 판매자 마이크로칩카드 판독기/기록기에 연결된 키패드에 거래액을 입력하며 그 속에 판매자 마이크로칩카드가 삽입된다. 거래액이 판매자 마이크로칩카드 판독기/기록기로부터 고객 마이크로칩카드 판독기/기록기로 전달된 다음 두 마이크로칩카드 판독기/기록기로부터 양 마이크로칩카드 모두에 전달된다.
적당한 화인증명으로 거래액은 고객 마이크로칩카드속에 기록된 잔고로부터 공제되고 판매자 마이크로칩카드속에 기록된 잔고에 가산된다. 후에 판매자는 마이크로칩카드 속에 기록된 잔고를 은행계정에 이체하거나 또는 금융기관에서 수행되는 단순한 처리과정에 의하여 현금으로 바꾼다.
첨부된 도면은 본 발명의 적절한 실시예를 도시한 것으로서, 이 첨부도면에 따라 본 발명을 상세히 설명한다.
제1도에 표시한대로 실시예는 주제어기(중앙컴퓨터와 같은)에 결합된 금전등록단말기(20)와, 금전등록단말기(20)에 결합된 고객 마이크로칩카드단말기(30)를 포함한다. 우선 금전등록단말기를 제1도 및 제2도를 참조하여 기술한다.
금전등록단말기(20)는 거래에 있어서 판매자에 의하여 조작되는 장치이다.
제2도에 있어서 고객디스플레이(1)는 고객에의 판매액을 디스플레이하는 액정 또는 발광다이오드장치이다. 작업자가 판매액를 확인할 수 있는 판매액디스플레이(2)는 고객디스플레이(1)와 동일한 액정 또는 발광다이오드장치이다.
항목입력구역(3)은 그 표면에 접촉감지기가 있는 CRT와 같은 디스플레이장치를 포함한다. 수동식자기카드리더(4)는 홈속에 삽입되고 스캐닝을 위하여 손으로 이동되는 카드위의 자기스트립으로부터 정보를 판독한다. 수동식자기카드리더(4)는 이 실시예에서 수행된 거래에서 직접적인 부분을 취하지 않으나 금전등록단말기(20)가 자기스트립스캐너를 필요로 할 수 있는 여러가지 목적을 위하여 마련된다.
콜렉시블디스크드라이브(5)(FDD)는 가령 3.5인치 콜렉시블디스크위에 저장 기억된 금전등록단말기(320)의 방식프로그램, 판매정보 및 기타정보를 가능하게 한다.
키패트(6)는 작업자가 필요정보를 입력하기 위하여 누르는 다수의 키를 포함한다. 영수증인자기(7)는 일지스트립 및 영수증위에 거래정보를 인자하고 그 다음 밀어낸다.
판매자 마이크로칩카드 판독기/기록기(8)는 마이크로칩카드(12)속에 끼워진 마이크로프로세서 및 기억소자와 같은 반도체장치와 상통한다. 통신은 카드표면위의 전기적접점을 개재하여 또는 설치된 비접점수단에 의하여 수해될 수 있다.
외부인터페이스(9)는 고객 마이크로칩카드단말기(30)으로부터 그리고 그것으로의 데이터의 전환을 중간 전달한다.
주제어기(10)는 버스(11)에 연결된 (1) 내지 (9)의 모든 부품을 제어한다. 다음에 고객 마이크로칩카드단말기(30)을 제1도 및 제3도를 참조하여 설명한다.
고객 마이크로칩카드단말기(30)는 키패드(13), 디스플레이(14), 마이크로칩카드 판독기/기록기(15), 제어부(17), 버스(18) 및 외부인터페이스(16)를 포함한다. 고객은 가령 고객만이 아는 수자, 부호등의 암호를 입력하기 위하여 숫자키패드(13)를 사용한다.
액정 또는 같은 장치로 된 디스플레이(14)는 고객에게 암호의 입력 및 카드의 삽입과 제거와 같은 기타작업을 촉구한다.
마이크로칩카드 판독기/기록기(15)는 고객 마이크로칩카드(19)속에 끼워진 반도체장치와 통신한다. 외부 인터페이스(16)는 금전등록단말기(20)으로부터 그리고 그것으로의 데이터의 전환을 중간전달한다.
제어부(17)는 금전등록단말기(20)속의 주제어기(10)로부터의 명령을 수신하고 모두 버스(18)에 연결된 부품(13), (16)을 개재하여 제어한다.
이 실시예의 수단에 의하여 거래가 수행될 때 처리과정은 제4도에 도시한 단계로 구성되어 이루어진다.
처리과정은 고객에게 고객 마이크로칩카드(10)(101단계)를 삽입하라고 지시하는 고객 마이크로칩카드단말기(30)위의 촉구를 시작한다. 고객은 필요한 자리에 카드를 삽입하고(102단계) 그러므로서 그것과 마이크로칩카드 판독기/기록기(15)는 고객 마이크로칩카드(19)를 활성화하는 전압을 인가하고 그 다음 그 자신을 초기화한다 (140단계).
초기화 후에 고객 마이크로칩카드(19)는 마이크로칩카드 판독기/기록기(15)를 경유하여 제어부(17)에 기초적인 "재설정을 위한 대답" 정보를 보낸다(105단계).
이 정보는 가령 고객 마이크로칩카드가 어떤 형태의 카드인가 그리고 그것은 고객 마이크로칩카드단말기(30)와의 통신에서 어떤 프로토콜(protocol) 사용할 것인가를 표시한다. 이 정보로부터 고객 마이크로칩카드단말기(30)는 고객에 의하여 삽입된 마이크로칩카드(19)로 거래를 책임질 수 있나 여부를 결정한다(106단계).

110 단계에서 확중의 완결후에 고객 마이크로칩카드단말기(30)의 제어부 (17)는 109단계에서 수신한 카드증명정보를 외부 인터페이스(16)를 경유하여 금전등록단말기(20)에 보낸다(111단계).
금전등록단말기(20)의 주제어기(10)는 그의 외부인터페이스(9)를 경유하여 고객 마이크로칩카드단말기(30)로 부터 보내진 증명정보를 수신하고 이 고객 마이크로칩카드(19)가 사용 금지되지 않았나 검사하기 위하여 주제어기(도시되지 않음)로 부터 수신된 음성파일(불허카드의 리스트)과 비교한다(112단계).
이 카드의 사용이 금지되지 않았으면 주제어기(10)는 고객 마이크로칩카드단말기(30)에 고객이 암호를 입력하도록 촉구하는 명령을 한다.
이 명령을 수신하면 제어부(17)는 디스플레이(14)에 "암호입력"과 같은 암호의 입력을 촉구하는 표시를 하고(113단계) 고객은 암호를 키로 입력하므로서 응답한다 (114단계).
제어부(17)는 암호를 수신하고 마이크로칩카드 판독기/기록기(15)를 개재하여 고객 마이크로칩카드(19)로 그것을 보낸다.
고객 마이크로칩카드(19)는 고객의 증명을 확인하기 위하여 그 기억장치속에 기록된 암호와 수신된 암호를 비교한다(115단계).
116단계에서 주어진 결과가 암호가 맞지 않는 것이면 고객 마이크로칩카드 (19)는 마이크로칩카드 판독기/기록기(15)를 경유하여 제어부(17)로 맞지 않는다는 정보를 주고 제어부(17)는 디스플레이(14)상에 "부정확암호"와 같은 암호가 틀리다는 표시를 하는 통보를 표시한다(117단계).
116단계의 결과가 암호가 맞는 것이라면 고객 마이크로칩카드(19)는 마이크로칩카드 판독기/기록기(15), 제어부(17) 및 외부인터페이스(16)를 경유하여 금전등록단말기(30)의 주제어기(10)에 암호가 정확하다는 것을 통지한다. 암호가 정확하다는 것이 통지되면 주제어기(10)는 항목 입력구역(3)상에 판매자에게 거래금액 및 거래데이터의 기타항목을 입력할 것을 지시하는 표시를 촉구한다(118단계).
판매자는 요청된 데이터를 키패드(6)위에 입력한다(119단계). 주제어기는 거래액을 고객디스플레이(1)위에 표시하고 입력된 거래데이터의 유효성을 검사한다 (120단계).
121단계에서 얻어진 이 검사의 결과가 거래데이터가 무효하다는 것이면 주제어기(10)는 항목 입력구역(3)상에 "오차"와 같은 무효를 표시하는 통보를 표시하고 (122단계) 판매자는 다시 데이터를 입력한다.
121단계에서의 결과가 거래데이터가 유효한 것이면 주제어기(10)는 고객 마이크로칩카드단말기(30)를 경유하여 고객 마이크로칩카드(19)로 고객 마이크로칩카드 (19)의 기억장치속에 기록된 잔고정보를 위하여 요청을 보낸다(123단계).
이 요청을 받으면 고객 마이크로칩카드(19)는 그 기억장치속에 기록된 잔고정보를 읽고(124단계) 고객 마이크로칩카드단말기(30)를 경유하여 금전등록단말기 (20)에 그것을 보고한다(125단계).
주제어기(10)는 그 다음 119단계에서 입력된 거래액과 보고된 잔고정보를 비교한다(126단계).
잔고가 거래를 위하여 적합하지 않으면 주제어기(10)는 고객디스플레이(1)상에 "부적합한 기금"과 같은 잔고가 부적합하다는 표시의 통보를 표시한다.
잔고가 거래를 위하여 적합하면 주제어기(10)는 고객 마이크로칩카드(19)에게 고객 마이크로칩카드단말기(30)를 경유하여 그 기억장치속에 잔고로부터 거래액을 감산할 것을 명령한다(127단계).
이 명령에 응답하여 고객 마이크로칩카드(19)는 그 기억장치속에 기록된 잔고를 갱신하고(128단계) 금전등록단말기(20)에 고객 마이크로칩카드단말기(30)를 경유하여 갱신후의 새잔고를 통지한다(129단계).
주제어기(10)는 그 다음 125단계에서 보고된 잔고로부터 127단계에서 주어진 거래액을 제하고(130단계) 그 결과가 129단계에서 보고된 새잔고로부터 동일한가를 검사한다. 이 검사가 통과되면 주제어기(10)는 거래의 항목별 내역명세를 항목입력구역(3)에 표시한다(131단계).
이 항목별 디스플레이로부터 판매자는 정확한 금액이 지불되었는가를 확인하고 키패드(6)상의 확인키를 누르던가 또는 항목입력구역(3)상의 동등감지기를 접촉한다 (132단계).
이 확인 통지되면 주제어기(10)는 마이크로칩카드 판독기/기록기(8)를 경유하여 동작에서 판매자 마이크로칩카드(12)속에 기록된 잔고를 판독하고 거래액를 이 카드에 보낸다(133단계).
판매자 마이크로칩카드(12)는 거래액을 그 기억장치의 속의 잔고에 가산하고 (134단계) 결과로 나온 새잔고와 거래액을 검사하기 위하여 금전등록단말기 (20)로 되돌려 보낸다. 주제어기(10)는 보고된 거래액이 정확한가를 검사하고 133단계에서 판독된 잔고에 그것을 감산하고 그 결과가 보고된 새잔고와 동일한가를 검사한다(135단계).
이 검사가 통과되면 주제어기(10)는 고객 마이크로칩카드(19)에게 고객 마이크로칩카드단말기(30)를 경유하여 거래의 기록을 기입할 것을 명령하고 고객 마이크로칩카드(19)는 그 기억장치속에 날자, 금액, 및 거래장소와 같은 정보를 포함하는 기록을 기입한다(136단계).
이 처리과정이 완료되면 고객 마이크로칩카드(19)는 제어부(17)로 부터의 명령으로 마이크로칩카드 판독기/기록기(15)에 의하여 해제되고(137단계) 판독되어서 (138단계) 고객에 의하여 해제되고(137단계) 판독되어서(138단계) 고객에 의하여 회수될 수 있도록 한다.
제어부(17)는 또 디스플레이(14)위에 "카드를 가져가세요"와 같은 카드의 회수를 촉구하는 통보를 표시한다(139단계).
137단계 내지 139단계와 동시에 금전등록단말기(20)속의 주제어기기(10)는 영수증인자기(7)에서 판매자용 일지기록을 인자할 것(140단계)과 고객용영수증을 인자할 것(141단계)을 명령한다.
이것이 거래처리과정을 완결하는 것이다. 고객이 가령 과다부과등의 어떤 오류를 영수증에서 발견하면 현금거래에서와 같은 형태의 정정을 요청할 수 있다. 이 실시예에서 금전등록단말기(20)와 고객 마이크로칩카드단말기(30) 각각 별도로 분리된 것으로 기술되었으나 그들은 또 단일장치속에 일체로 될 수도 있다. 기타의 변형 역시 본 발명의 범위를 벗어남이 없이될 수 있다.

Claims (8)

  1. 이용가능한 잔고정보가 기록된 예불방식의 신용카드거래 처리시스템에 있어서, 고객용 마이크로칩카드(19)의 정보를 판독/기록하는 고객용 마이크로칩카드 판독기/기록기(15)와, 상기 고객용 마이크로칩카드 판독기/기록기(15)와 전기적으로 상호 접속되고, 아울러 판매자용 마이크로칩카드(12)의 정보를 판독/기록하는 판매자용 마이크로칩카드 판독기/기록기(8)를 설치하여서, 구매물 거래의 결재처리시에 고객용 마이크로칩카드 판독기/기록기(15)는 고객용 마이크로칩카드(19)에 기록되어 있는 이용 가능한 잔고에서 거래액을 감산한 새로운 이용 가능한 잔고를 상기 고객용 마이크로칩카드(19)에 기록시킴과 동시에 상기 거래액을 판매자용 마이크로칩카드 판독기/기록기 (8)에 전송하고, 판매자용 마이크로칩카드 판독기/기록기(8)는 전송된 상기 거래액을 판매자용 마이크로칩카드(12)에 기록되어 있는 잔고에 가산하는 것을 특징으로 하는 거래처리방식.
  2. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 고객용 마이크로칩카드 판독기/기록기(15)는 고객용 마이크로칩카드(19) 속에 거래액을 기입하는 것을 특징으로 하는 거래처리방식.
  3. 제2항에 있어서, 상기 고객용 마이크로칩카드(19)는 새잔고를 결정하기 위하여 잔고로부터 거래액을 감산하고 아울러 새잔고를 기억하는 것을 특징으로 하는 거래처리방식.
  4. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 판매자용 마이크로칩카드 판독기/ 기록기/(8)는 판매자용 마이크로칩카드(12)속에 거래액을 기입하는 것을 특징으로 하는 거래처리방식.
  5. 제4항에 있어서, 상기 판매자용 마이크로칩카드(12)는 새 잔고를 결정하기 위하여 잔고에 거래액을 가산하고 아울러 새잔고를 기억하는 것을 특징으로 하는 거래처리방식.
  6. 제1항에 있어서, 고객의 신원의 확인을 위한 암호를 입력하는 수단(13)을 부가하여서, 상기 고객용 마이크로칩카드 판독기/ 기록기(15)는 고객용 마이크로칩카드 (19)가 입력암호와 그 속에 기억된 암호를 비교할 때 상기 고객용 마이크로칩카드(19)속에 입력암호를 입력하는 것을 특징으로 하는 거래처리방식.
  7. 제1항에 있어서, 거래액을 입력하는 수단(16)을 부가하는 것을 특징으로 하는 거래처리방식.
  8. 잔고가 기록된 고객용 마이크로칩카드(19)와, 상기 고객용 마이크로칩카드와 상통하는 고객용 마이크로칩카드 판독기/기록기(15)와, 잔고가 기록된 판매자용 마이크로칩카드(12)와, 상기 고객용 마이크로칩카드 판독기/기록기(15)에 전기적으로 결합될 수 있고, 상기 판매자용 마이크로칩카드(12)와 상통하기 위하여 사용되는 판매자용 마이크로칩카드 판독기/기록기(8)를 구비하여, 상기 고객용 마이크로칩카드(19)속의 잔고로부터 거래액을 감산하고 상기한 금액을 판매자용 마이크로칩카드 (12)속의 잔고에 가산하므로서 거래를 처리하는 것을 특징으로 하는 거래처리방식.
