Description
本発明の他の目的は、前記正極活物質の製造方法を提供することにある。

Mは、Mn、Co、Cr、Fe、V及びZrからなる群より選択された一種以上の元素であり、
Aは、+2価の酸化数を有する一つ以上のアルカリ土類金属であり、
Dは、S、N、F、Cl、Br、I及びPからなる群より選択された一種以上の元素である。〕
〔上記式中、
0<e<0.1、
0<f<0.3、
−4e<z≦4eであり、
3e−yのとき3e>yであり、
M’はNiaMbAwであり、
ここでM、A、a、b及びwは前記で言及した通りである。〕
本発明の一実施形態による前記正極活物質の製造方法は、遷移金属前駆体とリチウム前駆体の混合溶液に、+2価の酸化数を有するアルカリ土類金属前駆体を混合し焼結して、前記化学式(1)で表されるリチウム−ニッケル系遷移金属複合酸化物を製造する段階(段階1);及び前記リチウム−ニッケル系遷移金属複合酸化物にリン酸化物前駆体を添加し焼結して、前記複合酸化物の外表面にリン酸化物コーティング層を形成させる段階(段階2)を含むことを特徴とする。
前記段階1での焼結は、700℃から900℃の温度で20時間から30時間の間熱処理して行ったものであり得るが、これに制限されるものではない。
また、前記+2価の酸化数を有するアルカリ土類金属前駆体は、アルカリ土類金属塩であり得、具体的にはSrCO3であり得る。
前記リン酸化物前駆体は、前記で言及したところと同一であるか、含まれるものであり得る。
本発明の一実施形態による前記正極は、前記正極活物質を含む正極活物質スラリーを正極集電体に塗布し、乾燥及び圧延して製造することができる。
前記乾燥は、特に限定されるものではないが、50℃から200℃の真空オーブンで1日以内に行うものであり得る。
本発明の一実施形態による前記リチウム二次電池は、リチウム−ニッケル系遷移金属複合酸化物に+2価の酸化数を有するアルカリ土類金属をドーピングさせ、リン酸化物コーティング層を表面に形成させることにより、リチウム副産物を減少させ、構造的安定性を向上させた正極活物質を含む正極と負極、前記正極と負極との間に介在された分離膜及び電解質を含むことを特徴とする。
前記負極集電体は、前記で言及した正極集電体と同一のものであるか、含まれるものであり得る。
前記リチウム塩の陰イオンとしては、F-、Cl-、I-、NO3 -、N(CN)2 -、BF4 -、ClO4 -、PF6 -、(CF3)2PF4 -、(CF3)3PF3 -、(CF3)4PF2 -、(CF3)5PF-、(CF3)6P-、CF3SO3 -、CF3CF2SO3 -、(CF3SO2)2N-、(FSO2)2N-、CF3CF2(CF3)2CO-、(CF3SO2)2CH-、(SF5)3C-、(CF3SO2)3C-、CF3(CF2)7SO3 -、CF3CO2 -、CH3CO2 -、SCN-及び(CF3CF2SO2)2N-からなる群より選択される一種以上であり得る。
遷移金属前駆体としてNi0.78Mn0.11Co0.11OOHを準備し、これにLiOHをLi/遷移金属=1モル当たりの割合で混合して混合物を製造し、前記混合物を基準に0.2重量%のSrCO3を添加して混合した後、800℃で24時間の間焼成してSrがドーピングされたリチウム−ニッケル系遷移金属複合酸化物粉末を製造した。前記複合酸化物を基準に0.5重量%の(NH4)2HPO4粉末を混合して500℃の温度で熱処理し、篩(400号)にかけて正極活物質粉末を製造した。
(NH4)2HPO4粉末を1.0重量%で用いたことを除いては、前記実施例1と同一の方法を介して正極活物質粉末を製造した。
遷移金属前駆体としてNi0.78Mn0.11Co0.11OOHを準備し、これにLiOHをLi/遷移金属=1モル当たりの割合で混合して800℃で24時間の間焼成して正極活物質粉末を製造した。
遷移金属前駆体としてNi0.78Mn0.11Co0.11OOHを準備し、これにLiOHをLi/遷移金属=1モル当たりの割合で混合して混合物を製造し、前記混合物を基準に0.2重量%のSrCO3を添加して混合した後、800℃で24時間の間焼成して正極活物質粉末を製造した。
遷移金属前駆体としてNi0.78Mn0.11Co0.11OOHを準備し、これにLiOHをLi/遷移金属=1モル当たりの割合で混合し、800℃で24時間の間焼成してリチウム−ニッケル系遷移金属複合酸化物粉末を製造した。前記複合酸化物を基準に0.5重量%の(NH4)2HPO4粉末を混合して500℃の温度で熱処理し、篩(400号)にかけて正極活物質粉末を製造した。
前記実施例1で製造した正極活物質粉末:導電材:バインダの比率が95:2.5:2.5(重量比)になるようにMNPに混合して正極活物質スラリーを製造し、20μm厚さのアルミニウムホイルに前記正極活物質スラリーを200μm厚さで塗布した後、圧延及び乾燥して正極を製造した。
前記正極をコイン状に打ち抜き、負極としてLi金属、電解質としてLiPF6が1モル溶けているカーボネート電解液を用いてコイン状の電池を製作した。
前記実施例1で製造した正極活物質粉末の代わりに実施例2で製造した正極活物質粉末を用いたことを除いては、前記実施例1−1と同一の方法を介して電池を製作した。
前記実施例1で製造した正極活物質粉末の代わりに比較例1で製造した正極活物質粉末を用いたことを除いては、前記実施例1−1と同一の方法を介して電池を製作した。
前記実施例1で製造した正極活物質粉末の代わりに比較例2で製造した正極活物質粉末を用いたことを除いては、前記実施例1−1と同一の方法を介して電池を製作した。
前記実施例1で製造した正極活物質粉末の代わりに比較例3で製造した正極活物質粉末を用いたことを除いては、前記実施例1−1と同一の方法を介して電池を製作した。
前記実施例1と2及び比較例1から3で製造した各正極活物質粉末の表面に未反応された状態で残っているリチウム副産物(Li2CO3及びLiOH)の量を比較分析するために、pH滴定法を用いて各正極活物質粉末の表面に存在するリチウム副産物の量を測定した。
前記実施例1−1及び2−1と比較例1−1から3−1で製作した各電池の初期容量特性を比較分析した。
前記実施例1−1及び実施例2−1と比較例1−1から3−1の各電池の寿命特性を比較分析した。
各電池を45℃で1.0C充電及び1.0C放電条件下で100回充放電を繰り返し、繰り返し回数による容量劣化度を測定しており、その結果を図1に示した。
Claims (14)
- 正極活物質であって、
下記化学式(1)で表される層状構造のリチウム−ニッケル系遷移金属複合酸化物と、及び
前記リチウム−ニッケル系遷移金属複合酸化物の表面上に形成されたリンの酸化物コーティング層とを備えてなり、
前記正極活物質において、リチウムを除いた金属成分全体量を基準として、ニッケルの含量が70mol%以上であり、
前記リンの酸化物コーティング層は、前記化学式(1)で表されるリチウム−ニッケル系遷移金属複合酸化物と反応し、遷移金属層内に、下記化学式(2)で表される構造を含む反応物を形成する機能を有するものである、正極活物質。

0≦y<0.2、
0<w≦0.3であり、
2≦x+a+b+w≦2.2であり、
Mは、Mnb1Cob2〔式中、0<b1+b2≦0.3である〕であり、
Aは、+2価の酸化数を有する一つ以上のアルカリ土類金属元素であり、
Dは、S、N、F、Cl、Br、I及びPからなる群より選択された一種以上の元素である。〕

〔上記式中、
0<e<0.1、
0<f<0.3、
−4e<z≦4eであり、
3e−fのとき3e>fであり、
M’はNiaMbAwであり、
ここで、M、A、a、b及びwは、前記化学式(1)で定義したものである。〕 - 前記化学式(1)において、
Aで表される金属元素が、リチウム位置または結晶格子内の空いた空間に位置することを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の正極活物質。 - 前記化学式(1)において、
Aが、Srであることを特徴とする、請求項1又は2に記載の正極活物質。 - 前記リンの酸化物の原料物質であるリンの酸化物前駆体が、(NH4)2HPO4、(NH4)2H2PO4、(NH4)3PO4・(3H2O)、H3PO4及びP2O5からなる群より選択された一種以上のものであることを特徴とする、請求項1〜3の何れか一項に記載の正極活物質。
- 前記リンの酸化物コーティング層が、1nmから100nmの厚さを有することを特徴とする、請求項1〜4の何れか一項に記載の正極活物質。
- 正極活物質の製造方法であって、
1)遷移金属前駆体とリチウム前駆体の混合溶液に+2価の酸化数を有するアルカリ土類金属前駆体を混合し焼結して、下記化学式(1)で表されるリチウム−ニッケル系遷移金属複合酸化物を製造する段階と、及び
2)前記リチウム−ニッケル系遷移金属複合酸化物にリンの酸化物前駆体を混合し焼結して、前記複合酸化物の表面上にリンの酸化物コーティング層を形成させる段階とを含んでなり、
前記正極活物質において、リチウムを除いた金属成分全体量を基準として、ニッケルの含量が70mol%以上であり、
前記リンの酸化物コーティング層は、前記化学式(1)で表されるリチウム−ニッケル系遷移金属複合酸化物と反応し、遷移金属層内に、下記化学式(2)で表される構造を含む反応物を形成する機能を有するものである、正極活物質の製造方法。

0<w≦0.3であり、
2≦x+a+b+w≦2.2であり、
Mは、Mnb1Cob2〔式中、0<b1+b2≦0.3である〕であり、
Aは、+2価の酸化数を有する一つ以上のアルカリ土類金属元素であり、
Dは、S、N、F、Cl、Br、I及びPからなる群より選択された一種以上の元素である。〕
Li(Li3e±fM’1-fPe)O2+z 化学式(2)
〔上記式中、
0<e<0.1、
0<f<0.3、
−4e<z≦4eであり、
3e−fのとき3e>fであり、
M’はNiaMbAwであり、
ここで、M、A、a、b及びwは、前記化学式(1)で定義したものである。〕 - 前記遷移金属前駆体が、化学式Me(OH1-x)2で表されるものであることを特徴とする、請求項6に記載の正極活物質の製造方法。
〔上記化学式中、
Meは、前記化学式(1)で表されたNiaMbであり、
0≦x≦0.3である。〕 - 前記段階1)の焼結が、700℃から900℃の温度で、20時間から30時間の間、加熱処理したものであることを特徴とする、請求項6又は7に記載の正極活物質の製造方法。
- 前記段階2)の焼結が、100℃から700℃の温度で10時間以内に加熱処理したものであることを特徴とする、請求項6〜8の何れか一項に記載の正極活物質の製造方法。
- 前記化学式(1)において、
AがSrであることを特徴とする、請求項6〜9の何れか一項に記載の正極活物質の製造方法。 - 前記リンの酸化物前駆体が、(NH4)2HPO4、(NH4)2H2PO4、(NH4)3PO4・(3H2O)、H3PO4及びP2O5からなる群より選択された一種以上のものであることを特徴とする、請求項6〜10の何れか一項に記載の正極活物質の製造方法。
- 請求項1〜5の何れか一項に記載の正極活物質を含む正極活物質スラリーが集電体上に塗布されたものである、二次電池用正極。
- リチウム二次電池であって、
請求項12に記載の二次電池用正極と、負極と、前記正極と前記負極との間に介在された分離膜と、及び電解質とを備えてなる、リチウム二次電池。 - 前記リチウム二次電池は、45℃で1.0C充電条件及び1.0C放電条件での55回サイクル(cycle)により、初期容量に比べて容量維持率が90%以上であることを特徴とする、請求項13に記載のリチウム二次電池。
