よい。図1に示すようにハウジング7は、ほぼ円筒状の管であってもよく、エネルギー源2がその第1端部8の方に位置し、ヒーター3および加熱チェンバー4がそれと反対の第2端部9の方に位置している。エネルギー源2およびヒーター3は、ハウジング7の長手方向軸に沿って延びている。例えば図1に示すようにエネルギー源2およびヒーター3は、エネルギー源2の1つの端面がヒーター3の1つの端面の方に向くように端部と端部が面した構成でハウジング7の中央長手軸に沿って位置合わせすることができる。ハウジング7の長さは、約130mmであってもよく、エネルギー源の長さは、約59mmであってもよく、ヒーター3および加熱領域4の長さは、約50mmであってもよい。ハウジング7の直径は、約15mm〜約18mmであってもよい。例えばハウジングの第1端部8の直径は、18mmであってもよく、ハウジングの第2端部9にあるマウスピース6の直径は、15mmであってもよい。ヒーター3の直径は、約2.0mmから約6.0mmであってもよい。ヒーター3の直径は、例えば約4.0mm〜約4.5mmまたは約2.0mm〜約3.0mmであってもよい。これとは別にこれらの範囲外にある直径のヒーターを使用してもよい。加熱チェンバー4の深さは、約5mmであってもよく、加熱チェンバー4の外方に向いた表面における外径は、約10mmであってもよい。エネルギー源2の直径は、約14.0mmから約15.0mmであり、例えば14.6mmであってもよい。
加熱領域10は、例えば全てがヒーター3の長手方向軸に沿って互いに位置合わせされ、従ってヒーター3の長さに沿って複数の個別の加熱領域を供することができる。各加熱領域10は、全体としてヒーター3の長さより著しく短い有効長を有する加熱シリンダー10を含んでもよい。シリンダー10の構成および特徴は、加熱ディスクとして以下に説明し、各ディスクは、円柱の長さと同等の深さを有する。加熱ディスク10は、ヒーター3の長さに沿ってそれらの半径方向の面が互いに向き合って配置されている。各ディスク10の半径方向に延びた面は、その隣接するディスク10の半径方向に延びた面に触れてもよい。これとは別に断熱材または熱反射層がディスク10の半径方向に延びた面の間に位置してもよく、これによりディスク10のいずれかから放出される熱エネルギーは、実質的に隣接するディスク10を熱せず、その代わりに主にディスク10の円周面の外方から加熱チェンバー4および喫煙材5内に移動する。各ディスク10は、他のディスク10と実質的に同じ寸法を有してもよい。
Claims (19)
- 喫煙材を加熱して喫煙材の少なくとも1つの成分を揮発させるように構成されたヒーターを含む装置であって、
前記ヒーターは、その長手方向軸に沿って連続して配された複数の加熱突起を含み、
これらの突起は、これらの間に位置する喫煙材を加熱するように構成されている。 - 各加熱突起は、少なくとも1つの隣接する加熱突起の主加熱面に向いた主加熱面を含むことを特徴とする請求項1記載の装置。
- 隣接する加熱突起の主加熱面同士は、実質的に平行であることを特徴とする請求項2に記載の装置。
- 隣接する加熱突起の主加熱面の間に隙間を設けて、喫煙材をこの隙間に挿入して突起によって加熱されるようになっていることを特徴とする請求項2または3記載の装置。
- 複数の加熱突起は、それぞれ加熱プレートを含んでいることを特徴とする請求項1乃至4いずれか1項記載の装置。
- 複数の加熱突起は、実質的にヒーターの長手方向軸から直角に延びていることを特徴とする請求項1乃至5いずれか1項記載の装置。
- 加熱突起は、喫煙材を250℃の温度まで加熱するように構成されていることを特徴とする請求項1乃至6いずれか1項記載の装置。
- 各個別の加熱突起の温度を他の加熱突起の温度とは独立して制御するように構成されていることを特徴とする請求項1乃至7いずれか1項記載の装置。
- 少なくとも1つの加熱突起は、喫煙材を加熱するように構成されたエンボス加工された外面を含むことを特徴とする請求項1乃至8いずれか1項記載の装置。
- ヒーターは、長尺の部材を含み、この部材はヒーターの長手方向軸に沿って延び、ここから複数の加熱突起が突出することを特徴とする請求項1乃至9いずれか1項記載の装置。
- 加熱突起をある期間に亘って連続して作動させるように構成されていることを特徴とする請求項1乃至10いずれか1項記載の装置。
- 喫煙材中の気体流の兆候に応じて1つ以上の加熱突起を作動させるように構成されていることを特徴とする請求項1乃至11いずれか1項記載の装置。
- マウスピースでのパフを検知することに応じて1つ以上の加熱突起を作動させるように構成されていることを特徴とする請求項1乃至12いずれか1項記載の装置。
- 喫煙材を燃焼させずに喫煙材を加熱するように構成されていることを特徴とする請求項1乃至13いずれか1項記載の装置。
- さらに喫煙材を含むことを特徴とする請求項1乃至14いずれか1項記載の装置。
- 喫煙材は、複数の喫煙材セクションを含み、各セクションは、隣接する加熱突起の間に
位置することを特徴とする請求項15記載の装置。 - 喫煙材セクションは、それぞれヒーターの長手方向軸に沿って延びた喫煙材からなる長尺の胴体部の一部であることを特徴とする請求項16記載の装置。
- 複数の加熱突起を含み、喫煙材の少なくとも1つの成分を揮発させるためにこれら突起の間で喫煙材を加熱するように構成されたヒーターであって、これら加熱突起は、ヒーターの長手方向軸に沿って連続して配置されているヒーター。
- 長手方向軸に沿って連続して配置された複数の喫煙材セクションを含む長尺の喫煙材カートリッジであって、各喫煙材セクションは、隙間によって隔てられた2つの対向する加熱領域の間に各セクションを挿入できるように隣接する喫煙材セクションから少なくとも一部が隔てられているカートリッジ。
