Abstract
Description
図4は、自動車用の転がり軸受装置の一端部側に取り付けられた従来の密封装置を示す断面図である。図中、転がり軸受装置100は、自動車の車輪を固定するためのフランジ部101aが一体に形成された内軸101と、内軸101に外嵌固定された回転輪としての内輪102と、固定輪としての外輪103と、転動体としての玉104とを備えている。
内側シール部材112は、外輪103の端部に内嵌固定された芯金114と、芯金114に固定されてスリンガ111に摺接する複数の内側シールリップ115〜117とを有している。複数の内側シールリップ115〜117は、芯金114の内周端部を基端としてスリンガ111へ延びるように形成されており、車両の走行に伴って回転するスリンガ111に摺接することで、内輪102と外輪103との間の隙間を密封し、転がり軸受装置100の内部に泥水等の異物が侵入するのを防止している。
本発明は、このような問題点に鑑みてなされたものであり、組み込み工数を低減することができる密封装置を提供することを目的とする。
外側シールリップが長期使用により摩耗すると、外側シールリップとフランジ部の側面との間に円環状の隙間が生じ、その隙間から泥水等が侵入する場合がある。この場合、上記隙間から侵入した泥水等は、スリンガの円環部とフランジ部の側面との間に形成された空間に一時的に溜まり、その溜まった泥水等が自重により落下することで、上記隙間から泥水等を外部へ排出することができる。したがって、外側シールリップが摩耗しても、転がり軸受装置の内部に泥水等が侵入するのを抑制することができる。
図1は、本発明の第1実施形態に係る密封装置が用いられた転がり軸受装置を示す断面図である。この転がり軸受装置1は、自動車等の車輪を懸架装置に対して回転自在に支持する。
外輪2は、自動車の懸架装置に固定される固定輪であり、内軸3の外周側に同心に配置されている。外輪2の内周面には、円錐ころ4が転動する外輪軌道2aが形成されている。
第1及び第2サイドリップ42a,42bは、第2シール円環部41dの外周面から軸方向外方かつ径方向外方に延びて形成されており、その先端部はスリンガ20の円環部22に摺接している。上記サイドリップ42a,42bは、転がり軸受装置1の内部に泥水等の異物が侵入するのを防止する機能を有している。
ラジアルリップ42cは、第2シール円環部41dの内周端から軸方向内方かつ径方向内方に延びて形成されており、その先端部はスリンガ20の円筒部21に摺接している。
上記ラジアル摺接部42b1およびラジアルリップ42cは、外輪2と内軸3との間の環状空間に密封されたグリース等の潤滑剤が外部へ漏洩するのを防止する機能を有している。
なお、第2実施形態において説明を省略した点は、第1実施形態と同様である。
Claims (2)
- 同心状に配置された内軸と外輪とを備え、前記外輪の一端面に隙間をあけて対向する側面を有するフランジ部が前記内軸の一端部に一体に形成された転がり軸受装置に用いられ、前記内軸と前記外輪との間の環状空間を密封する密封装置であって、
前記内軸の一端部に嵌合固定されるとともに、径方向外方に延びるスリンガと、
前記外輪の一端部に嵌合固定される芯金と、
前記芯金に固定され、前記スリンガに摺接する内側シールリップと、
前記内側シールリップよりも径方向外方において前記芯金に固定され、前記フランジ部の側面に摺接する外側シールリップと、
前記外側シールリップよりも径方向外方において前記芯金に固定され、前記フランジ部の側面との間でラビリンスシールを構成するラビリンスリップと、を備えていることを特徴とする密封装置。 - 前記スリンガは、前記内軸の一端部に嵌合固定される円筒部と、前記円筒部の一端部から径方向外方に延びるとともに前記フランジ部の側面に対して軸方向に所定の空間をあけて配置される円環部と、を有する請求項1に記載の密封装置。
