Description
更にまた、本発明の請求項5による密封装置は、上記した請求項1記載の密封装置において、前記ビード状の突起または溝は、スパイラル状のものとして設けられていることを特徴とするものである。
また、本発明の密封装置においては併せて、相手部材の端面部に対向する端面シール部の端面表面にビード状の突起または溝が設けられているために、相手部材の端面部に対して端面シール部を更に近接させたり(突起の場合)、ねじ効果によりシール性を向上させたり(突起または溝の場合)することができる。
図1は、本発明の第一実施例に係る密封装置1の要部断面を示している。この密封装置1は例えば自動車用車輪懸架装置におけるベアリング部にハブシール(ハブベアリング用シール)として用いられるものであって、以下のように構成されている。
尚、上記第一実施例では、上記したようにゴム状弾性体よりなる端面シール部3fに外周側サイドリップ3jが設けられているが、この外周側サイドリップ3jはこれに代えて、図2に示すように、ラビリンスシール4を設けても良い。このラビリンスシール4は、サイドリップ3cの外周に位置して回転軸12の端面部12aとの間に微小間隙(環状をなす軸方向微小間隙)5を形成してラビリンスシール作用をなすものであって、外周側サイドリップ3jと同様の作用効果を発揮することができる。

Claims (5)
- ベアリングにおけるアウターレース等のハウジング(11)に取り付けられて回転軸等の相手部材(12)に摺動自在に密接する密封装置(1)であって、前記ハウジング(11)に金属嵌合にて固定される取付環(2)と、前記取付環(2)に被着されたゴム状弾性体(3)とを有し、前記ゴム状弾性体(3)には前記相手部材(12)の端面部(12a)に摺動自在に密接するサイドリップ(3c)を有する密封装置(1)において、
前記取付環(2)に径方向外方へ向けて設けられたフランジ部(2c)と、前記フランジ部(2c)に被着されて前記ハウジング(11)の端面部(11a)に密接するゴム状弾性体よりなる端面シール部(3f)とを有し、
前記ゴム状弾性体よりなる端面シール部(3f)に、前記サイドリップ(3c)の外周に位置して前記相手部材(12)の端面部(12a)との間に微小間隙(5)を形成してシール作用をなすラビリンスシール(4)を設け、
更に、前記相手部材(12)の端面部(12a)に対向する前記端面シール部(3f)の端面表面に、ビード状の突起または溝(3m)を設けたことを特徴とする密封装置。 - 請求項1記載の密封装置において、
前記ビード状の突起または溝(3m)は、環状に設けられ、かつ複数が同心状に設けられていることを特徴とする密封装置。 - 請求項1記載の密封装置において、
前記ビード状の突起または溝(3m)は、V字状のものを円周上多数並べた形状に形成されていることを特徴とする密封装置。 - 請求項1記載の密封装置において、
前記ビード状の突起または溝(3m)は、円弧状のものを円周上多数並べた形状に形成されていることを特徴とする密封装置。 - 請求項1記載の密封装置において、
前記ビード状の突起または溝(3m)は、スパイラル状のものとして設けられていることを特徴とする密封装置。
