Abstract

421,165. Oil engines. KNIGHT & HALE, Ltd., J., and WHITAKER, J. E., Victoria Works, Denton, Lancashire. Aug. 1, 1934, No. 22404. [Class 7 (iii)] The combustion chamber B of an oil engine is connected tc the working cylinder by a constricted passage D having a slop ing projection d and into which a projection p on the pistor P enters so as to leave an offset circular air channel formed by co operating recesses pl d' in the piston P anc in the wall of the passage. A fuel in jector E and air inlet and exhaust valves are located in the combustion chamber, which is of disc form. The projection d deflects the air, at the beginning of the compression stroke, tangentially into the combustion chamber. Specifications 185,706, [Class 7 (iii)], 361,202, and 388,262 are referred to.
