Abstract

525,879. Cylinders. ROBOTHAM, W. A. Dec. 21, 1938, No. 37227. [Class 7 (ii)] In an engine having a combustion chamber E in the cylinder head the walls of which are not a continuation of the cylinder walls, and overhang the cylinder, with an inlet valve E<2> above the cylinder and an exhaust valve E<1> in the base of the chamber, the piston has a projection F which fits closely against the walls of the chamber when the piston is at the inner dead-centre and projects into the chamber for a distance not more than two-thirds of its height. Specifications 287,258, [Class 7 (ii)], and 505,895 are referred to.
