522,730. Two-stroke engines ; cylinders. RICARDO, H. R. Nov. 2, 1938, No. 31715. [Class 7 (ii)] In a two-stroke engine, scavenging ports G are formed tangentially in a thickened part D<1> of a dry liner D which is inserted into a watercooled casing E from the crank-case end. The liner may also have a flange D which is clamped between the casing E and the crank case. The scavenging-air may be supplied by means of a pump L, rotary valve and passage J, the pump piston M sliding on a fixed guide N and being driven by a link M<1> from the connecting- rod O.
