[Class 7 (iii)] In a diesel engine having a combustion chamber e disposed at one side of the cylinder axis and connected to the cylinder space through a conical passage h, a projection k on the piston i enters the passage h at the end of the compression stroke. An air space m is left between the walls of the chamber and the cone l of fuel is delivered by a nozzle f which lies outside a cover o enclosing the inlet and exhaust valve-actuating mechanism.
