Abstract

C y l i n d e r s receiving liquid fuel.-In an engine igniting by the heat of compression, fuel is injected into a chamber 1 during the c o m p r e s s i o n stroke: this chamber communicates with the cylinder through a small port 3, and if desired through a valve 2, and has its volume adjustable by means of a piston 8. Some air enters through the valve 5.
