Abstract

20,286. Page, S. E., [Courtice, R., and Taylor, C. H.]. Sept. 8. Cylinders receiving liquid fuel.-In the engine shown in Fig. 2, air is compressed in the crank casing and transferred to the working space through ports 11 in a piston extension 4 which compresses fuel-injection air in a cylinder 2. Water is sprayed into the cylinder 2 with the air. The injector comprises a fuel-admission valve 17 and an air-admission valve (not shown), both of which are actuated by a two-armed lever 13 which is secured to a cam-actuated rocking- lever 12. The fuel is sprayed into the cylinder through a nozzle x, located in front of which is an igniting bulb 24.
