Abstract

388,262. Oil engines. WISEMAN, Ltd., A. and WISEMAN, A., 89, Glover Street, Birmingham. May 24, 1932, No. 14683. [Class 7 (iii).] The combustion chamber 1 of a Diesel or compression-ignition engine is connected to the working cylinder by an offset constricted passage into which a projection 4 on the piston enters so as to leave an air duct 9 which extends across the entire width of the combustion chamber. A fuel injector 16 and air inlet and exhaust valves 14, 15 are located in the combustion chamber, which may be of cylindrical, ellipsoidal, or oblate cylindrical form, the projection on the piston being square or rectangular in cross section. Specifications 185,706, [Class 7 (iii), Internal-combustion engines, Carburetting apparatus &c. for], and 361,202 are referred to.
