Abstract

522,072. Powdered-fuel engines. HANNOVERSCHE MASCHINENBAU AKT.-GES. VORM. EGESTORFF, G. HANOMAG. Jan. 30, 1939, No. 3101. Convention date, April 16, 1938. [Class 7 (ii)] To prevent fuels from falling into the cylinder from an ante-chamber in which dust fuel is received a reduced pressure is maintained in the chamber by a pump, as shown in the Fig. An ante-chamber 5 which receives fuel through a valve 7 is connected to a pump 9 which induces the fuel when a pump valve 12 is open and at or near the beginning of the engine compression stroke. During the engine suction stroke the pump piston draws a vacuum and when the valve 12 is opened a low pressure is induced in the ante-chamber the pressure being determined by the timing of a pump valve 11 which is controlled by an engine governor. The pump may, if desired, force air into the ante-chamber during the engine compression stroke.
