Abstract

526,723. Oil engines. KAMMER, G. S. March 25, 1939, No. 9422. [Class 7 (iii)] In a liquid-fuel injection system wherein the pressure in an accumulator 3 fed by a fuel pump acts on both sides of a fuel-injection valve 16, a distributer which periodically releases and restores the pressure on the closing side of the injection valves of the various cylinders comprises a cylindrical member 8 rotating in a liner 9 having a recess 7 connected by a pipe 6 to the accumulator, and a recess 13 connected by a port 14 to the suction side of the pump. In the position shown, the recess 7 also communicates through a port 10 with the space 23 above the injection valve. As the member 8 rotates, a projection 25 in the recess 7 closes the port 10, and an extension 26 of the recess 13 opens a port 11 to put the space 23 into communication with the pump section. The pressure in the space 27 then opens the valve, and injection continues until the accumulator pressure is reapplied to the space 23. By adjusting the member 8 axially, the duration of injection is timed. Specification 528,042 is referred to.
