Abstract

1,001,977. Fuel injection pumps. ROBERT BOSCH G.m.b.H. Dec. 6, 1961 [Dec. 10, 1960], No. 43665/61. Heading F1A. In a fuel injection pump having a pump piston 10 serving as a distributor which supplies fuel from a single pump chamber to a multicylinder engine, the distributor alternately connects the pump outlet 38 to the pump chamber and the pump inlet 32 to the pump chamber on the delivery and suction strokes respectively and a suction valve 12 is located in the inlet to the pump chamber. A shaft 3 rotates and oscillates the pump piston 10, the bore section 15 of which comprises the pump chamber. A spring 16 keeps the valve 12 closed and fits into the recessed end of a bush 17 which fits closely in the section 15. A flange 18 on the bush 17 abuts a flange of a bush 20 which is slidable axially by the action of a pin 27 mounted eccentrically in a rotating pin 28. A spring 22 is located over a fixed pin 25 and abuts a cap 24 slidable on the pin 25. On the delivery stroke of the piston 10, no fuel will be delivered until the cap 24 abuts the pin 25 because the pressure required to open the injection valve (not shown) is higher than the pressure necessary to displace the bush 17 and cap 24.
