Abstract

694,406. Fuel-injection pumps. DAIMLERBENZ AKT.-GES. Sept. 21, 1951 [Sept. 21, 1950], No. 22201/51. Class 102 (i). In a fuel-injection pump, the plunger 10 is connected to, and actuated by a piston 8 reciprocated by the compression pressure in the engine cylinders. The piston plunger 10 is also rotated by a shaft 5 driven by the engine and acts as a distributer. The shaft 5 drives a cup-shaped member 6, in which the piston 8 reciprocates, which has a toothed connection with member 12 that is connected through splines &c. 13 to the plunger 10. The shaft 5 has passages 26, 27 which act as a valve and connects the space 7 to the engine cylinders in turn and the plunger 10 has groove 18 which co-operates with outlets and connects the pump to the appropriate cylinder. The delivery of the pump is controlled by an axiallyadjustable sleeve 23 on the plunger 10.
