Abstract

493,422. Fuel-injection pumps. SOC. ANON. A. SAURER. March 2, 1938, No. 6535. Convention date, March 12, 1937. [Class 102 (i)] A fuel - injection pump comprises a plunger 1 having an axial bore 11 and a radial bore 12 which communicates, as the piston rotates, with bores 14 leading to the engine cylinders. The plunger is reciprocated by a cam 18 and is rotated by a bevel wheel 27 driven by a bevel wheel 28 on the cam-shaft 17. A member 24 forms a guide for the wheel 27 and the follower 20 and has extensions 15 which carry the bearings 16 supporting the shaft 17. The actuating mechanism may be assembled before introduction into the casing 4. The delivery is completed when the groove 13 uncovers the suction port 6 and the delivery is controlled by a throttle valve 9 connecting the pump chamber to the suction.
