Abstract
729,955. Starting oil engines. RETEL, J. M. R. Dec. 17, 1952 [Dec. 18, 1951], No. 31965/52. Class 7(3). [Also in Groups XXVIII and XXIX] In a fuel-injection pump (see Group XXVII), the delivery is controlled by a sleeve 33 cooperating with a spill port 32 in the pump plunger and adjustable axially by fuel pressure in the chamber 34 which varies with the speed. The sleeve carries a rocker 72 one end of which co-operates with a cam 73 that is operated by lever 82 that has a stop 83 which determines the normal maximum fuel supply and can be moved to stop the engine. The other end of the rocker co-operates with a cam 74 that is actuated by a lever 84 that has a stop 86 which determines the maximum speed of the engine. The cam 74 can move the rocker 72 against the loading of the spring-pressed plunger 76 to permit extra fuel for starting.
