Abstract

887,198. Fuel injection pumps. C.A.V. Ltd. Sept. 3, 1959 [Sept. 17, 1958], No. 29735/58. Class 102(1). In a fuel injection pump a member 20 having a fork 24 at one end is slidable on and rotatable with a shaft 12 driving a cylindrical head 7 having a cylinder bore 8 communicating sequentially through a rotary valve 13 with the outlet of a pump 4, which has a spring loaded relief valve, and with outlets 16 leading to the injectors. Plungers 9 in the bore 8 are actuated by a fixed cam 11. The outward movement of the plungers is variably limited by the engagement of the plungers with members 25 carried on the head 7 and engaged by the fork end 24 of the member 20 which is moved axially against the pressure of a spring 21 by means of a centrifugal governor 22 or manual means 23.
