Abstract

407,164. Fuel - injection pumps. AKTIEBOLAGET ATLAS DIESEL, Stockholm. Jan. 3, 1933, No. 150. Convention date, July 11, 1932. [Class 102 (i).] A fuel injection pump for internal - combustion engines having a two-part reciprocating member, one part of which is adjustable in relation to the other, has an auxiliary member slidably mounted in a chamber therein, this member moving jointly with the first member under the action of the cam. The cam 2 actuates a part 4 which has screwed therein a control member 8, the two together having a recessed chamber 21 wherein is placed an auxiliary member 22. A duct 20 connects the chamber 21 with the pump chamber 12. The dimensions of the member 22 and the member 8 are such that the axial pressure on the latter is balanced and adjustment of the two parts 8 and 4 by the adjusting mechanism 10, 11 can be effected readily. On movement of the complete member upwardly the piston 22 forces the fuel past the delivery valve 16 until such time as the passage 20 communicates with the suction side 13. In an alternative construction the spill ports are coupled by side longitudinal passages in the upper reciprocating member and the delivery valve is carried by upper plug members fitted into the main casting.
