Abstract

460,196. Fuel - injection pumps. BOSCH AKT.-GES., R. July 20, 1935, No. 20684. Convention date, July 20, 1934. [Class 102 (i)] The output of a fuel-injection pump is controlled by edges on a plunger 12 co-operating with suction and byepass ports 14, 15. The pump delivery valve 8 has throttle passages 9, a piston body 18 and a tapered seat 5. At full load as the speed of the engine increases the lift of the valve increases and at the end of the delivery stroke the greater the lift the more fuel is allowed to escape from the delivery pipe to the pump chamber. Thus the maximum quantity of fuel delivered decreases as the speed increases.
