Abstract

429,808. Fuel - injection pumps. SULZER FRERES SOC. ANON., Winterthur, Switzerland. June 4, 1934, No. 16571. Convention date, July 10, 1933. [Class 102 (i)] A fuel-injection pump for a reversible internal-combustion engine is actuated by a symmetrical quick lift cam 3 and the suction valve 9 is actuated by a lever 16 mounted upon an adjustable fulcrum 17 so that the moment of closing of the suction valve 9 during the delivery stroke and thus the time of the beginning of injection is variable. Fig. 2 shows a modification wherein a valve 9 is loaded by a spring 13 and positioned in the plunger 2. Suction takes place through the ports 10 and the valve 9. The valve stem engages an abutment 23 adjustable by the eccentric 24 which determines the point in the delivery stroke that the valve 9 seats and delivery commences. The cam 3 may be adjusted relatively to the driving shaft.
