Abstract
352,485. Fuel pumps. SULZER FR’RES SOC. ANON., Winterthur, Switzerland. April 9, 1930, No. 11271. Convention date, July 22, 1929. [Class 102 (i).] In a fuel-injection valve for an internal-combustion engine fuel is supplied by a pump 17 to spaces 8, 12. The pressure in the space 12 holds the injection valve 2 closed and compresses a spring 4, which closes the valve after injection. The valve is opened by the pressure in the space 8 when the pressure in the space 12 is relieved by a valve 29. The amount of fuel is controlled by the governor acting on the suction-valve, and the injection is timed by the valve 29, which is operated from the plunger cam 20 through a roller 21 and a lever 31 having an adjustable fulcrum. A single pump may supply two injection valves, the pump having two discharge valves and two release valves, which are separately controlled.
