Abstract

366,500. Fuel-injection pumps. OLSEN, S. D., 99, Brookscroft Road, and OLSEN ENGINE SYNDICATE, Ltd., Salisbury House, both in London. Oct. 28, 1930, No. 32373. [Class 102 (i).] A fuel - injection pump fo:r an internalcombustion engine comprises a plunger 5 secured to a sleeve 9 and actuated by an eccentric 21 through a block 10, and spring 11, lost motion existing between the block 10 and sleeve 9. A mechanically actuated valve 15 controls the period of injection. This valve is providedwith a relief passage 30 and a relief valve 31 which is closed by the tappet 20 before the opening of the valve 15. The pressure in the delivery pipe 16 is, thus relieved between the injection periods and any leakage past the valve 15 is returned to suction. The end of the tappet 20 may be adapted to act as a relief valve.
