442,183. Fuel - injection pumps. AKTIEBOLAGET ATLAS DIESEL, Stockholm. Jan. 14, 1935, No. 1244. Convention date, Jan. 15, 1934. [Class 102 (i)] In order to prevent dribble at the injection nozzle of an internal-combustion engine, the delivery valve 7 of the fuel-injection pump seats upon a sliding seat 25 supported by a spring 24. After the injection is completed the valve and seating move towards the pump. The upper end of the seating may engage the pump casing and the amount of movement towards the pump may be limited by a stop. Fig. 5 shows a spring-loaded plunger 31 inside a delivery valve 7 which has passages 32, 33, 36 leading to the delivery pipe 8 and the pump cylinder. Alternatively, the plunger may be arranged in a byepass passage in the pump casing around the delivery valve. Fig. 1 shows the valve arrangement 7, 25 fitted to a fuel-injection pump wherein a byepass valve 17 engages a spring-loaded plunger 22. The plunger 22 is lifted by a lever 20, mounted on an adjustable fulcrum 19 and actuated by a bell-crank 18.
