Abstract

645,186. Fuel injectors. AKTIEBOLAGET ATLAS DIESEL, and CAMNER, H. G. June 3, 1947, No. 14644. A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Sept. 9. 1948. [Class 7 (iii)] [Also in Group XXVIII] A pressure reduction valve 29, 35 in the conduit connecting a fuel injection pump to an injector permits flow in both directions and comprises a spring-pressed plate 29 seating on a shoulder 28 and having an orifice 30 with which co-acts a second plate 35. On the delivery stroke, the plate 35 which may be lightly loaded by a spring 37, lifts to permit flow through a pipe 12 to an annular space 14 connected by passages 21, 16 to spaces 22, 17 for actuating the injector valve 18. At the end of the pump stroke the plate 35 covers the hole 30 and the plate 29 is lifted off its seat to allow flow back from pipe 12. Stops 38, 34 limit the movement of the valve plates. The cam 6 may be shaped to produce a preliminary fuel injection which may or may not be separate from the main injection. In a modification the pressure reducing valve is positioned in the passage 16. Modified forms of pressure reduction valves are described in which (a) the plate 35 is provided with a small leak passage (b) the plates 29, 35 are provided with guiding fins, and (c) the plate 35 is not loaded by a spring.
