357,292. Supplying liquid fuel ; measuring-valves. DEHN, F. B., 103, Kingsway, London.-(Winton Engine Co. ; West 106th Street, Cleveland, Ohio, U.S.A.) July 2, 1930, No. 20081. [Classes 7 (iii) and 7 (vi).] A liquid fuel injector incorporating a mechanically actuated pump plunger 9 has a metering chamber 51 the volume of which may be varied by adjusting the limit of upward movement of the plunger under the action of a spring 22 by means of a pivoted forked lever 45, one end of which bears on a governor controlled eccentric. Within the plunger 9 is a rod 16 which is loaded by the spring 22 and bears on the end of a valve member 17 to close the small injection orifices 20 in a nozzle 18 until the pressure during the delivery stroke of the pump is sufficient to overcome the loading on the member 17. Fuel is fed at a relatively low pressure through a pipe 37, check valve 35, and passages 32, 29, 30 to the metering chamber 51. Fuel leakage along the valve stem 17 is removed through passages 52, 27, 28.
