Abstract
636,080. Fuel injectors. KAMMER ENGINES, Ltd., and KAMMER, G. S. Nov. 18, 1947, No. 30632. [Class 7 (iii)] A passage 27 leading to the main fuel delivery valve 29 is controlled by a spring pressed plunger 2 which is raised by the rise in pressure due to the excess fuel supplied to the pilot delivery valve 28. The space 3 is filled with fuel the pressure of which during injection is limited by a non-return valve 8 in an escape passage 17, and after injection is relieved through a ballvalve 19. At the start of injection valve 19 closes and fuel flows through passage 21 to open the pilot valve 30 controlling the open pilot nozzle 39. The pressure in space 23 builds up, acting on plunger 2 to increase the pressure in space 3 until fuel escapes through the valve 8 and plunger 2 moves to open the passage 27. The passage 31 is smaller than passage 30 so that the valve 29, controlling the open main injection nozzle 40, does not open until a still higher pressure builds up in space 23. At the end of the pump stroke, valve 19 opens and the plunger 2 moves down and displaces fuel from space 23 through, the passage 21 to the space 3.
