Abstract

419,510. Fuel - injection pumps. ARCHAOULOFF, V., 1, Rue Carnot, Boulognesur-Seine, France. April 6, 1934, No. 10491. Convention date, April 11, 1933. [Class 102 (i).] In a fuel-injection pump of the type in which the discharge stroke of the plunger is effected by a piston 5, which is exposed to the pressure in the engine combustion chamber 2, and the return of the plunger is effected by the fuel, which is supplied under pressure through a pipe 10 and valve 11, the amount of fuel injected is controlled by limiting the stroke of the plunger by means of a flange 7 on the plunger which engages the forked end of a lever 14. The discharge port to the pipe 15 is controlled by the plunger. The lever 14 embraces an eccentric on a spindle 12, which is rotatable by hand or governor by a lever 13 in order to adjust the position of the lever 14. In a modification, for use with a valveless injection nozzle, the discharge part is provided with a spring-loaded valve and the suction valve is located in the cylinder head.
