Abstract
457,966. Fuel pumps. BOSCH AKT.- GES., R., 4, Militarstrasse, Stuttgart, Germany. July 24, 1936, No. 20490. Convention date, Aug. 8, 1935. [Class 102 (i)] A fuel pump suitable for feeding fuel injection pumps or carburetters comprises a piston 2 loaded by a spring 11 and engaged by a rod 8 actuated by a cam 10. Each of the suction and delivery passages 4, 6 is divided into branches 4<1>, 4<11> and 6<1>, 6<11> respectively, and fitted with suction and delivery valves 51, 5<11> and 71, 7<11>. A passage 12 leads to a relief valve 13 connected to the suction passage 4 which allows a byepass upon excessive delivery pressure when the piston 2 is positively actuated by the rod 8. The other stroke of the piston is determined by the spring 11 acting against the delivery pressure. Fig. 3 shows the relief valve in the form of a ring 15 sliding on a guide 17 and controlling relief ports 12 in the cylinder wall.
