441,872. Fuel - injection pumps. KOSTER, W., 2, Solmsstrasse, Frankfort-on- Main, and DUSSMANN, A., 38, Rossmarkt, Aschaffenburg, both in Germany. July 26, 1934, No. 21885. Convention date, July 27, 1933. [Class 102 (i)] The plunger 11 of a fuelinjection pump has an inclined edge, controlling a suction port 13, and is connected to a piston 8 having a valve 10. A rotary valve 18 has grooves 19, 20 controlling the admission and exhaust of compressed gas to the piston 8. When the pressure on the valve 10 is sufficient to overcome the spring 9, the piston 8 rises and the gas enters the cylinder and causes high acceleration of the piston until the suction port 13 is closed when the fuel is injected. The plunger 11 is adjusted circumferentially by the rod 24 which is also connected to a cut-off valve 23 in the gas inlet. In a modification the piston 8 has a certain free movement before it strikes the plunger 11. Specification 372,463 is referred to. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also a construction wherein instead of employing a rotary valve 18, there is a separate compressor cylinder for each pump plunger. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
