Abstract

510,753. Spray carburetters. S.U. CARBURETTER CO., Ltd., and SKINNER, T. C. June 14, 1938, No. 17621. [Class 7 (iii)] In a carburetter in which a fuel needle valve e and a variable choke are automatically adjusted by a piston f subjected to the pressure obtaining in the region between the choke and the throttle valve b, the needle valve and choke are also placed under the control of the pressure existing in the space between the throttle valve and the engine. A passage h transmits the reduced pressure between the choke and the throttle valve b to the upper face of the piston f which is formed with a cylindrical extension i of comparatively small diameter sliding in a chamber i communicating by a passage k with the induction pipe beyond the throttle valve b. A restriction u in the passage k and an atmospheric port t in the chamber j delay the action of the suction on the extension i while an overload release valve m or a port r in a spring supported cylinder p adapted to be lowered by the suction operating upon a diaphragm o limit the action of the suction on the extension i. The diaphragm o may be the diaphragm controlling the ignition timing.
