Abstract

516,605. Four-stroke and two-stroke engines; pumps; regulating. BIRKIGT, L. July 1, 1938, No. 19521. Convention date, July 3, 1937. [Classes 7 (ii) and 7 (vi)] Rich mixture and air are supplied to cylinder valves 2, 3 by a pump C through separate pipes 7, 6, provided with control valves 9, 10, the pipe 7 including a carburetter 8 or a nozzle through which fuel is injected. The valves 9, 10 are preferably operated simultaneously, but have an overriding altitude control which is either operated by a barometric device and weakens the mixture as the altitude increases, or is operated manually. The valve 3 may open before, and close after, the valve 2, to provide scavenging and turbulence.
