Abstract
671,132. Preventing stalling of engines. BOSCH GES., R. Jan. 27. 1950 [Feb. 25, 1949], No. 2178/50. Class 7(ii) In a fuel-injection engine wherein the suction in the intake pipe 2 is used to actuate brakes or other auxiliaries, a suctionactuated valve 12 admits air to the pipe 2 to prevent stalling when the throttle valve 3 is closed for production of the suction, the valve 12 comprising a spring-loaded diaphragm 16 normally seated at 18 to close a byepass 19, 21 around the throttle valve 3. Closing of the valve 3 produces a high suction in a vacuum reservoir 10 connected to the pipe 2 through a non-return valve 9 at a predetermined value of which the valve 16 is raised from the seat 18 to permit air to enter the intake pipe through the byepass 21. The pipe 13 transmitting the suction to the valve 12 is provided with a restriction 23 to minimize the effect of a puncture of the diaphragm 16, and may be connected either to the reservoir 10 or to the operating chamber of the auxiliary.
