Abstract
652,671. Spray carburetters. CARBONARO, M. C. Aug. 29, 1946, No. 26026. Convention date, Dec. 14, 1944. [Classes 7(ii) and 7(iii)] A carburetter comprises a fuel nozzle 9, Fig. 1, disposed in a byepass 11 connected to Venturis 6, 8 on opposite sides of the throttle valve the byepass having a large orifice 12 and a small orifice 13 so that the suction at the nozzle 9 is approximately the same as that at the Venturi 6. In a modification, Fig. 2, the byepass 11 leads to a small Venturi 20 in a secondary byepass 15 connected at one end to the Venturi 8 and at the other end to the intake pipe upsteam thereof. In Fig. 4, the secondary byepass 15 includes a wet or dry type compressor 40 which produces a suction at the Venturi 20 into which the lower end of the byepass 11 opens. The compressor may be replaced by connecting the Venturi 16 to the engine cylinder or the exhaust manifold through a non-return valve, whereby the suction is produced by the flow of exhaust gases.
