Abstract

515,410. Cylinders; spray carburetters. SEIDEL, A. Feb. 28, 1938, No. 6302. Void. Convention date, Feb. 27, 1937. [Classes 7 (ii) and 7 (iii)] Combustible mixture is fed to a V8 engine by a double pipe a, b, and separate connections a<1>, b<1> leading to distribution points c, d, from each of which four branches lead to the cylinders. A connection e is arranged so that, if one part of the piping a, b, is throttled, mixture flow takes place from the other to all the cylinders without producing turbulence. The throttle valve comprises two sliding plates o, p with registering orifices, one pair being circular and the other elongated. Rich mixture is admitted by orifices s, t to Venturi passages A, B through which air is drawn. Alternatively duplex carburetters may be used.
