[Class 7 (ii).] In a multicylinder engine supplied with scavenging air r from one piston pump through a duct c common to. all the cylinders, the supply to all the cylinders is arranged to take place at the same pressure despite variations of pressure in the duct c. Throttle valves e, g may be placed in either or both the inlet and exhaust pipes d, f to each cylinder or one or more cylinders may have smaller inlet and/or exhaust ports than the others.
