544,446. Cylinder admission ports. CROSET, L. P., and CROSET, P. J. F. Oct. 11, 1940, No. 15162. [Class 7 (ii)] In four-stroke cycle engines air is supplied not only through poppet, slide or other valves d, but also through piston un- covered ports f ; valves i close the ports f until the exhaust valves e are closed. Both air supplies may be at atmospheric pressure and supplied from the same manifold. They may, however, be furnished by exhaustdriven blowers, and that supplied through the ports f may be further compressed in a Roots' blower, an intercooler being fitted. Specification 11881/15, [Class 7 (vi)], is referred to.
