Abstract

1,185,291. Four stroke supercharged engines. USTAV PRO VYZKUM MOTOROVYCH VOZIDEL. Feb. 9, 1968 [May 19, 1967, Oct.12, 1967], No.6503/68. Heading F1B. In a four stroke engine supplied with com bustible mixture through passage 22, air compressed in an annular pump space 6 is transferred through space 11 and ports 15 into the working cylinder as scavenging air at the end of the exhaust stroke and supercharging air at the end of the suction stroke. The air, supplied through intake passage 17 formed in the cylinder block and head, is controlled by a rotary valve formed by a passage of slots 9<SP>1</SP>, 9<SP>11</SP>, in the camshaft 2. The passage 9<SP>1</SP> controlling the supercharging air, is larger than that 9<SP>11</SP> controlling the scavenging air. In Fig. 3 the passage 16 in the camshaft 2 is offset whereby in one portion for the scavenging air supply it is in full register with port 10 whilst in the second position it registers only partly with port 10. The ports 14, 15 into and from space 11 are tangential in the same sense to produce rotation of the air in the cylinder in the same sense as that of the combustible mixture.
