Abstract

728,487. Cylinders. DAIMLER-BENZ AKT.-GES. July 9, 1953 [July 9, 1952], No. 19087/53. Class 7(2). Each admission valve 6 of an engine having overhead admission valves is provided with two intake passages 8, 10, which are located in the cylinder head on opposite sides of the valve stem and symmetrically in relation to the axis of the stem and which meet at an acute angle directly in front of the valve seat, one of the admission passages being arranged to admit fuel-air mixture and the other to admit air alone. The two passages 8, 10, may be of the same size or alternatively of different sizes, the larger one admitting fuel-air mixture and the smaller one extra air when a weaker mixture is desired.
