Abstract

674,180. Cylinders; valve-gear. TRUMPY, H. Oct. 4, 1949 [Oct. 6, 1948], No. 25548/49. Classes 7(ii), 7(iii) and 7(vi) . In a cylinder head for internal-combustion engines comprising inlet and exhaust valves 3 disposed in "V" " form and controlled by rockers 2 through a common overhead cam shaft 4, there is provided a push element 8 for each valve which is located between the cam shaft 4 and rockers 2, the element 8, which may be a rod, extending transversely of the cam shaft 4 and seated at one end in a thrust bearing secured to the rocker 2 and at the other end on the inner surface of the head of a sleeve member 9 which is slidable in a cylinder 11 and at its outer end engages the cam shaft. The cylinder .11 is formed as part of the cylinder head 1. The cam shaft which is mounted in a closed channel 5 formed in the head 1, can be withdrawn therefrom after loosening a bearing screw. The above arrangement permits of an oblique but central mounting for a spark plug 12 whilst the arrangement of the cylinders 11 enable a vertical intake channel 14 to be used. Fuel injectors 15 are also mounted at the coldest spots of the intake channel.
