Abstract

882,706. Cylinder inlet passages; valve seats. LEYLAND MOTORS Ltd. Sept. 18, 1958 [Sept. 18, 1957], No. 29390/57. Classes 7(2) and 7(6). In an engine having an air inlet passage 3 inclined to the cylinder head surface 1 and tangential to the cylinder, an inserted valve seat 5 has the axis of its opening inclined to the surface 1 and substantially aligned with the axis of the end of the air inlet passage. The passage 3 is inclined to the surface 1 at about 42 degrees and may be cast a little smaller than the valve opening and ground to exact alignment with the valve seat bore. Specifications 423,316 and 698,495 are referred to.
