Abstract
587,276. Making engine cylinders. SPOOR, W., and PERKINS, Ltd., F. May 16, 1944, Nos. 9400 and 24934. [Class 83 (ii)] [Also in Group XXVII] In a fuel injection internal - combustion engine one of the air admission valves may be shrouded by having a portion 61 of the cylinder head casting overlying a pocket formed behind the valve seating 60. The shroud is made by using a core of smaller diameter 62 than the valve port and then machining the port to its final dimensions without carrying the machining out completely to the inlet passage so as to leave a U-shaped shroud.
