Abstract

519,026. Cycles; cylinders. ERREN, R. A. Sept. 9, 1938, No. 26408. [Class 7 (ii)] Gas or a fuel-air mixture is injected in stages into air that may contain oxygen or steam. In the four-stroke cycle engine shown in Fig. 1, having inlet and exhaust valves 5, 6 respectively, fuel' is admitted in stages through a multi-port rotary valve 10 which delivers through an upwardly inclined passage 17 directed towards a sparking-plug 7. In addition to the fuel admitted in stages a heavy fuel may be injected subsequently.
