914,745. Induction passages; fuel-injection engines. RICARDO & CO. ENGINEERS (1927) Ltd. Feb. 17, 1960 [Feb. 25, 1959], No. 6494/59. Classes 7(2) and 7(3) To cause the induced or pressure air charge to swirl round the cylinder 3, it passes through a vortex chamber 13 between the intake passage 14 and the inlet port 8. There is an exhaust passage 11 and an inclined fuel injector housing 20 seating in the lower cylinder-head wall and screwing into the upper cylinder-head wall. The chamber 13 may have a slightly inclined or curved axis. According to the Provisional Specification, the chamber neck 15 may be Venturi-shaped and the passage 14 of round or oval cross-section.
