844,995. Admission passages; fuel-injection engines. DAIMLER-BENZ A. G. Jan. 30, 1959 [Feb. 11, 1958], No. 3420/59. Classes 7(2) and 7(3). In an engine having direct injection from a valved nozzle 19 into a piston combustion chamber 22, a passage leading to an air intake valve 5 comprises a horizontal portion 7, forming a valve chamber 11 winding spirally about the valve guide, and a down portion 13 angled towards the cylinder axis so as to direct thereto air whirled by the chamber 11. Two overhead exhaust valves 15 and an incandescent igniter 20 are provided.
