Abstract

552,289. Treating charge. DIETZ, J. P. M. VAN. July 29, 1941, No. 9645. [Class 7 (ii)] Combustion is improved by passing compressed air or compressed exhaust gas through a container having naphthalene therein and introducing the treated air or gas into the inlet manifold of the engine between the carburetter and the cylinder. The naphthalene may be in the form of '' drained creosote salts " or " whizzed naphthalene " as described in Specification 536,103. When exhaust gases are used they are preferably cooled and filtered.
