Abstract
568,966. Valve gear; casings. ROESCH, G. H. Nov. 4, 1943, No. 18303. [Classes 7 (ii) and 7 (vi)] In an engine having " in-line " cylinders, each provided with a domed combustion chamber 2 and two inclined overhead valves 6, 6<1> operated within a casing 1 enclosing an overhead cam-shaft 3 lying centrally within the space between the valves, the valves of each cylinder lie in a plane inclined to the axis of the cam-shaft and may be actuated by twoarmed levers 12 also inclined to the cam-shaft to which they are operatively connected by articulated tappets. One or more passages 7 connect the interior or exterior of the casing to the combustion chamber for the reception of a fuel injection nozzle or sparking plug.
